TI  - Associations of     <prot>UBE2I</prot>     with  <prot>RAD52</prot> ,  <prot>UBL1</prot> ,  <prot>p53</prot> , and  <prot>RAD51</prot>  proteins in a yeast
      two-hybrid system.

AB  - The yeast <prot>RAD52</prot>-dependent pathway is involved in DNA recombination and
      double-strand break repair. Yeast ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme <prot>UBC9</prot>
      participates in S- and M-phase cyclin degradation and mitotic control.
      Using the human <prot>RAD52</prot> protein as the &quot;bait&quot; in a yeast two-hybrid system,
      we have identified a human homolog of yeast <prot>UBC9</prot>, designated     <prot>UBE2I</prot>    , that
      interacts with  <prot>RAD52</prot> ,  <prot>RAD51</prot> ,  <prot>p53</prot> , and a ubiquitin-like protein  <prot>UBL1</prot> . These
      interactions are <prot>UBE2I</prot>-specific, since another DNA repair-related
      ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme, <prot>RAD6</prot> (<prot>UBC2</prot>), does not interact with these
      proteins. The interaction of  <prot>UBE2I</prot>  with  <prot>RAD52</prot>  is mediated by <prot>RAD52</prot>'s
      self-association region. These results suggest that the <prot>RAD52</prot>-dependent
      processes, cell cycle control, <prot>p53</prot>-mediated pathway(s), and ubiquitination
      interact through human <prot>UBE2I</prot>.
