This is a dataset published in the GigaScience database alongside with the data note entitled 'Benchmark datasets for 3D MALDI- and DESI-Imaging Mass Spectrometry' by Oetjen et al..

It contains 3D DESI imaging MS data from a human colorectal adenocarcinoma specimen acquired by matrix assisted laser desorption/ ionization imaging mass spectrometry.
Data within file 'Colorectal_Adenocarcinoma.h5' is arranged as follows:
The m/z vector is stored at ‘/mz’ and data from the nth slice can be found in the ‘/data/sn’ group.
Each of these groups contains the optical image (‘/data/sn/op’), MS image (‘/data/sn/x’) and the section number (‘/data/sn/zPosition’).
Sample metadata are stored in the root directory (‘/’).
